This week's Destiny blog post revealed what kind of armor players will be chasing with the upcoming Into the Light update, scheduled to hit the game on April 9.
Bungie already revealed a fair share of information about the small expansion, including the new social space called the Hall of Champions, all the reissued weapons that will be returning, and even a look at the free new three-player activity, Onslaught. Still, the armor sets were something fans had been hoping to see.
As mentioned, a proper first look at the Into the Light armor was seen in the March 28 TWID blog. Take a look at the image below:
The armor sets in Destiny 2 have a similar style to early designs but with a unique and refined look compared to their 2017 counterparts.
According to Bungie, the way players will go about obtaining these armor sets will be completely in-game, as they'll need to level Lord Shaxx's Hype, a new Into the Light reputation system, which is linked to Onslaught and completing bounties.
As you rank up with Shaxx, you'll unlock new Trophies of Bravert, which you need to start earning armor pieces from the Into the Light sets. Each class will have its own set of chests with curated armor rolls.
As you can see, Bungie is putting a lot of emphasis on cosmetics for this smaller update ahead of The Final Shape. The iconic Superblack shader from the original Destiny is also making its return, and we're willing to bet it will pair nicely with the armor sets designed for all classes in Into the Light.
It's not all been positive feedback, as Bungie has come under scrutiny for time-gating content, especially limited-time variant weapons of the BRAVE Arsenal, drip-feeding content for players in the process.
