Bungie has confirmed that Into the Light, the small expansion that will set up The Final Shape DLC will be released on April 9.

The news was confirmed in the March 14 This Week in Destiny blog post, explaining that the content will serve as preparation for both veterans and newcomers ahead of The Final Shape, which will mark the conclusion of the Light and Darkness Saga, which started with the launch of the original Destiny in 2014.

In addition, the developers confirmed that there will be three separate livestreams, during which Bungie members will showcase everything fans can expect when Into the Light drops.

The first will be next week, on March 19. The second is scheduled for March 26, and the third and final on April 2. They will all start at 10 am PT/12 am CT.

Into the Light is not only the bridge for newcomers to get the gist of the Destiny 2 story ahead of its finale or a quick refresher for veterans of the series, but it's also a way for Bungie to fill the gap content-wise between the start of Season of the Wish and The Final Shape.

The Final Shape was originally supposed to be released in February, alongside the new format of content drops from Bungie that will phase out seasons in favor of Episodes.

A similar thing happened in 2021 when The Witch Queen DLC was delayed until February 2022. Bungie launched the 30th Anniversary edition with Halo-themed weapons, a new free-for-all event, and a dungeon.

Rumors have said Into the Light will bring back old gear, such as the iconic Black Armory weapons. We'll have to wait and see what Bungie has in store during the reveal streams and when the DLC finally releases in April.
