Destiny 2 Onslaught revealed, three-player horde mode coming with Into the Light

It's bringing back some fan-favorite weapons

Bungie revealed a new Destiny 2 activity that will debut with the Into the Light update when it launches this upcoming April 9: Onslaught, a three-player horde mode.

Unveiled during the first Into the Light developer stream (in which players could earn Twitch Drops), Onslaught will see players defend the Last City from incoming waves of enemies. Defeated opponents will drop scrap, which can be used to fortify the Last City's defenses between waves of increasingly harder enemies.

The playlist version of the activity, meaning the one with matchmaking enabled, will have up to 10 waves. However, the Challenge version will feature up to 50. A Legendary mode was mentioned, but Bungie kept details under wraps. If you want to tackle the harder waves, you'll need to gather a group of friends.

As for the loot, the developers revealed that a fan-favorite hand cannon will return: the Midnight Coup. It will include some incredible perk combinations like Firefly and Kinetic Tremors, so this alone should make grinding Onslaught worthwhile.

Onslaught will be Into the Light's free activity, meaning that even players who don't own the update will get access to it, similar to Dares of Eternity in the 30th Anniversary update. No details were shared about the rest of the content within this DLC.

There are still two more Into the Light developer streams, the next one on March 26 and the third and final one on April 2, so fans are expecting Bungie to have more surprises in store as this update could be key for players to remain interested ahead of The Final Shape DLC.
