“The way how people play the game has changed”: FaZe Clan back on action following overtime loss to SSG

Sweden Major champions tasted bitter defeat on day one.

If someone in the venue knows how it feels to win in Sweden, that’s FaZe Clan. After breaking APAC's hearts into pieces, the Brazilians defeated their fellow neighbors Ninjas in Pyjamas at the Sweden Major Grand Final.

Now, FaZe’s goal is to take ownership of the famous Brazilian Siege dynasty. However, Gabriel “cameram4n” Hespanhol is well-aware of the team’s chances, especially considering how rosters’ have adapted since LATAM’s takeover of the scene. “The way how people play the game has changed, we can see that in APAC, they are playing with a different play-style,” he said.

It is do-or-die for Brazilian teams, who for the first time in a long while have been put between a rock and a hard place – all Brazilian teams in this event aside from Team Liquid have already tasted defeat in the group stage. In fact, it’s not just APAC teams who are revolting against the system but also EU and NA lineups.

FaZe Clan perished against Spacestation Gaming in an exhausting three map match on day one, with two of them going to overtime. “We showed a lot of things, other teams that will come after will study that, and it’s hard to change things during the tournament because we practiced that for a long time, it’s easier to do what we have practiced for the last months than trying new stuff,” said cameram4n.

Following a 7-5 victory on Kafe, the North American team defeated FaZe Clan on Clubhouse (8-6) and Villa (8-7).  “That happens to every team, after a few games they become easier to study, these games make us weaker. We just have to adapt and be more aware of how they are playing,” he stated.

Luckily for the Brazilian side, the Sweden Major champions did not play on day two. Some other teams would prefer playing aiming to redeem themselves, but there’s plenty of time for FaZe to do that. “The break is really good for us because we had a really tough game, we were really tired after the match. We can talk now and try to spot the mistakes and fix them to become better, it is a good break,” he concluded.

With only one game in hand compared to the team’s direct rivals Spacestation Gaming, Team Liquid, and Rogue, FaZe Clan's chances of topping Group B are far from gone.
