Rainbow Six Siege is one of Ubisoft's most profitable titles. Released in December 2015, the game has made over USD$3.5M which logically makes it one of the leading FPS on the market.
It's fair to say Rainbow Six Siege has experienced multiple changes throughout its history. With over 70 operators, 20 maps, and a handful of different game modes and playlists, there's plenty of potential for Rainbow Six Siege to become even bigger; and this is exactly what could happen in the game's 10th anniversary.
As we approach Year 10's reveal, which should take place in Boston, Massachusetts, during the Six Invitational 2025 Finals, the rumors about a massive update are becoming bigger and more real. More precisely, the term "Rainbow Six Siege X" is gaining a lot of popularity.
Here's everything we know so far about Rainbow Six Siege X:
Is Rainbow Six Siege X confirmed?
So far, Ubisoft hasn't confirmed Rainbow Six Siege X. However, the rumours are strong enough to finally start seriously talking about its potential release.
In fact, there's a change that Ubisoft has already tried to bring to Rainbow Six Siege that could indicate that Siege X is a reality: the constant efforts to get rid of DX11 to bring DX12.
In November 2024, Ubisoft decided to postpone the removal of DX11 after the community complained about the DX12 performance. However, Ubisoft's statement said that "this change is inevitable since we are planning for significant improvements that couldn't be supported by DX11." Logically, this makes us think that big changes are coming to Rainbow Six Siege which could only be supported by DirectX 12.
If Rainbow Six Siege X is a reality, which it should, it should be revealed during the Six Invitational 2025 Finals, which will take place between February 14 and February 16.
What's Rainbow Six Siege X?
As of now, it's hard to say what Rainbow Six Siege X exactly is. However, what we can say is that Rainbow Six Siege X is believed to be the future of Ubisoft's FPS title. In other words, Rainbow Six Siege X could be Rainbow Six Siege 2.
Unfortunately, it's unclear if Rainbow Six Siege X will be a a complete different game or if it will simply be the next year of Rainbow Six Siege. After all, the letter X means "10" in Greek numbers.
What could we see in Rainbow Six Siege X?
With the arrival of Rainbow Six Siege X in the future, players should expect an upgrade in terms of graphics and a huge wave of brand-new content hitting the game at some point during Year 10.
An example of what's potentially going to be released to the game in the near future is new operator models, with Clash being the first one. This is another reason why Ubisoft would want to move to DX12, as an update in terms of graphics would require an improvement from DX11.
Moreover, players should expect game modes like the Siege Cup to be perfected throughout the year, as well as new operators, and more.
The future of Rainbow Six Siege is bright! We will update this article as soon as more information about Rainbow Six Siege X is released.
