Destiny 2 Exotic class items will become more common

Time to farm for the god roll!

Three Destiny 2 Guardians shrouded in Prismatic energy

Bungie will make the grind to get Exotic class items easier soon as they've revealed plans for the elusive gear to drop more frequently in the latest This Week in Destiny blog post.

The Final Shape introduced new Exotic class items that work in tandem with the debuting Prismatic subclass, allowing Guardians to have extra combinations of perks. Getting your first Exotic class item is no easy feat, as you need to complete the Dual Destiny Exotic mission, which is almost like a mini-dungeon for two players in execution.

If that wasn't enough, just unlocking the mission is a grind in its own right, which is why players felt that subsequent drops were too scarce for the amount of effort they had to put into unlocking the ability for random Exotic class item drops in the first place.

A much welcomed change to help players get their class item god roll

Bungie confirmed that with patch 8.0.5, the drop rates for Exotic class items in Overthrow activities will increase with each difficulty granting a higher chance of dropping the class items.

Also, by doing Lost Sectors and co-op missions within The Pale Heart, you will also get a chance to acquire the Exotic class items as the drop rate from completing Overthrow activities, as explained by Bungie, will transfer. This means that completing those activities also increases the chance of obtaining an Exotic class item.

The developers did confirm that any chest not related to the activities previously mentioned will have their drop rates decreased, giving players a more consistent way to target their Exotic class item farming.

Finally, if that wasn't enough, Bungie will add a weekly Dual Destiny challenge to encourage players to finish the mission at least once per week, handing out an extra guaranteed Exotic class item drop as a reward.

It's expected that Destiny 2 patch 8.0.5 will drop in as early as August 6, however, the official date for it has yet to be confirmed by Bungie.
