Here's everything that happened in the first playday of the Brazil League 2024 Stage 2!
Keyd Stars 7-2 Fluxo
The Brazil League 2024 Stage 2 started with a one-sided Keyd Stars victory over Fluxo on Clubhouse.
Despite the result looking very favorable for Keyd Stars, Fluxo put the purple roster between a rock and a hard place during the initial minutes of the match as they secured two of their first four attacks — including a 1v2 clutch by Leonardo "Astro" Luis on round four.
However, Keyd Stars took control of the match after that. After five back-to-back successful rounds, including three attacks, Keyd Stars secured the three points. Unfortunately for Fluxo, this is the Brazilian's tenth defeat in the Brazil League 2024 as the first split saw the roster going winless during the regular phase with one overtime and eight regulation defeats.
With a SiegeGG rating of 1.74 the former FURIA Esports player Thiago "Lenda" Torres was the best player of the match, followed by the team's newest incorporation Caio "Neskin" Szazi, who obtained a SiegeGG rating of 1.36.
Team Liquid 8-6 Ninjas in Pyjamas
Team Liquid started the second split with an overtime victory against Ninjas in Pyjamas on Clubhouse. Although people who didn't watch the match could think the Blue Cavalry should be happy about the result, the truth is that the blue roster threw the regulation victory away.
In what was Diogo "Fntzy" Lima's first Brazil League 2024 match for Ninjas in Pyjamas, the 21-year-old stole the show as his five kills in the initial two rounds saw the shinobis getting an early 2-0 lead.
Shortly after, the Blue Cavalry put themselves up on the scoreboard after three consecutive defensive rounds which included a 1v2 clutch by Pablo "resetz" Oliveira. Eventually, Ninjas in Pyjamas tied the scoreboard right before swapping sides.
It was then that the ninjas vanished. Three successful attacking rounds for Team Liquid saw the Esports World Cup semifinalists reaching match point with three rounds to be played. Ninjas in Pyjamas needed a miracle to secure at least a point, and that's exactly what happened.
After killing zero opponents during NIP's first three defenses while playing Vigil, Solis, and Azami, Fntzy went berserk during the final three regulation rounds as he obtained seven kills to help his team push the match to overtime — which saw the Brazilian going to final two rounds of the game with 15 kills.
Despite the ninjas' best efforts to win the match, Team Liquid couldn't be stopped during the overtime and eventually secured the victory. All Pablo "resetz" Oliveira, Gabriel "Maia" Maia, and Diogo "Fntzy" Lima delivered the best performances of the game as they averaged SiegeGG ratings of 1.28, 1.24, and 1.24, respectively.
E1 Sports 7-5 Black Dragons
After a summer full of departures and roster moves, E1 Sports are back to Brazil's top-flight with a regulation victory against Black Dragons on Nighthaven Labs.
The match saw Guilherme "Bassetto" Bassetto, Vinícius "live" dos Santos, and Vitor "Peres" Peres playing against their former organization, Black Dragons. Curiously enough, the first two were making their first Brazil League 2024 appearance for E1 Sports. Meanwhile, this was Black Dragons' first Brazil League 2024 match since G2 Esports acquired the former dragon Roberto "Loira" Camargo.
The game started well for the blue roster as the players won four of their six attacks. Eventually, that would make a big difference as, despite Black Dragons' best efforts of bringing the game to overtime, E1 Sports ended up winning the game by just two rounds.
With a SiegeGG rating of 1.39, Henrique "Flastry" Pennacchia was the best player of the match after averaging a KPR of 1.08 and a KOST of 75.
w7m esports 8-6 FaZe Clan
The Esports World Cup grand finalists w7m esports defeated the Six Invitational 2024 grand finalists FaZe Clan on Kafe Dostoyevsky.
The American organization began the game on the right foot after winning four of their six defenses on the Russian map, including a 1v1 clutch by Victor "VITAKING" Santos while using Sentry. However, the tables would turn shortly after the teams swapped sides.
Although FaZe Clan reached match point first, the Bulls' reaction was imminent as they forced the overtime after a 1v1 clutch by Gabriel "volpz" Fernandes. After that, a 4K by Denis "Dodez" Navas while playing Thatcher saw w7m esports leading the match for the first time. Eventually, the Bulls closed the match with the team's fifth successful defensive round of the game.
Even though Dodez was the best player for w7m esports with a SiegeGG rating of 1.21, the FaZe Clan duo of Thiago "Handy" Ferreira and Victor "VITAKING" Santos were the best players of the match with SiegeGG ratings of 1.38 and 1.30, respectively.
It's also worth mentioning that, despite going to overtime, the Bulls dominated FaZe Clan in the early game as they secured nine of the fourteen entry kills of the match.
FURIA Esports 7-5 MIBR
The final match of the day was a FURIA Esports 7-5 victory against MIBR on Bank.
The Super Copa do Brasil champions kicked off the second split with three important points against MIBR in a match that was closer than what the majority of viewers had expected.
As none of the teams could create a two-round advantage, the match was extremely open. However, the most crucial moment of the match was when the Black Panthers managed to win two rounds in a row while attacking when MIBR had a 4-3 advantage. Although MIBR eventually tied the scoreboard twice, the current world champions secured the victory after winning the final two rounds of the match.
With 14 kills to his name, FURIA Esports' hard breacher João "Jv92" Vitor was the best player of the match.
