A cryptic quest step to complete

feature image

As players get to explore everything Episode: Echoes has to offer following the conclusion of The Final Shape campaign, Guardians are trying to find how to activate the Planetary Assimilation Piston in Destiny 2.

Located in Nessus, this step from the Specimen ID: NES001 quest which is part of the seasonal story has some players puzzled as the Planetary Assimilation Piston might be tricky to find.

So, if you don't want to waste time trying to locate it, in this guide we'll tell you exactly where to find the Planetary Assimilation Piston. While you're here, consider checking how to get Strange Coins in Destiny 2 with the Xur rework for The Final Shape.

Destiny 2 Planetary Assimilation Piston location

First off, you'll need to launch the Arena: Breach Executable activity that's part of Episode: Echoes. In it, you need to collect data from Vex for Failsafe to process.

Once you complete the first encounter and are looking for the next Vex Node, scout the area for a unique one that has a bronze-looking base, you'll know you've arrived at the right one if you get the following prompt: "Smash Planetoid Assimilation Piston."

For a better reference, check the image down below, the unique Vex Node will look exactly like this:

Once you smash it, you'll get the Munitions Deployment Apparatus research instrument and proceed to the next quest step, which is simply speaking with Failsafe at the H.E.L.M. to review her final analysis report.

And that's about it, as you can see, it's not exactly a convoluted step but rather a very confusing one. Now that you know how to find the Planetary Assimilation Piston and what to do with it, check out our full Power Level guide.
