With the start of Episode: Echoes Act 3, Bungie added more seasonal content, including the Specimen ID NES007 quest, which is required to get access to the Choir of One Catalyst.

If you've been keeping up to date with the seasonal content, then you should know what to expect from this quest, but even if you're a little behind, you'll still be able to complete it even if you haven't done previous ones such as Specimen ID NES006.

So, if you want to know how to complete the NES007 quest, we have you covered.

Specimen ID NES007 location in Destiny 2

In order to obtain the Specimen ID NES007 quest, you need to play through the brand-new Encore Overture Exotic mission. Once you reach the Ishtar Research Facility area near the end of the mission, the Proximity Sensor will appear, investigate one of the tables near the Exo bodies to get the quest.

Finding the Specimen ID NES007 quest is relatively easy

A word of advice: while you can play the mission without being up-to-date with previous seasonal content, you need to have finished both the A Rising Chorus Part 1 and 2 to obtain the Choir of One auto rifle at the end of the quest.

You can, however, pick up and complete the NES007 quest without having done any previous ones as previously mentioned.

How to complete Specimen ID NES007

Now that you have picked up the NES007 quest, you need to go back to the H.E.L.M and do the following step of the A Rising Chorus Part 3 quest, which tasks you with finding Golden Age tech in a Lost Sector.

Once you have done that, Failsafe will actually give you the NES007 quest. The steps are relatively simple and are as follows:

  • Step 1: Defeat 100 Vex with Solar damage to weaken their armor plating and expose more memory cores
  • Step 2: Secure the data Failsafe needs by completing Echoes Encore, Battlegrounds, or collecting Extracted Data in the Breach Executable activity from the H.E.L.M. Retrieve Extracted Data and kill Vex bosses
  • Step 3: Rapidly defeat Vex to acquire a large sampling of their CPUs
  • Step 4: Speak to Failsafe
  • Step 5: Place the Exo head in its display at The H.E.L.M
  • Step 6: Visit the Holoprojector

For all your Vex needs, it's recommended that you head to Nessus and use the Artifact's Edge Landing Zone to farm The Orrery Lost Sector there.

You can easily rack up Vex kills with Solar damage and rapid kills to help you complete steps 1 and 3 with ease. As for step 2, in our experience, only one Battleground activity was enough to obtain the necessary Extracted Data and defeat Vex bosses.

Specimen ID NES007 quest rewards

You'll get the following rewards for completing the quest:

  • The Marty's Retribution grenade launcher for completing step 3
  • The Speleologist machine gun
  • Conductor's Mind Imprint Codes research instrument. This will unlock a new hub in the Encore Exotic mission.
