Destiny 2 is getting a new social space with Into the Light

It's about time

Bungie has revealed what fans had been waiting for years: a new social space is coming to Destiny 2 and it's debuting with the upcoming Into the Light DLC.

The news was confirmed during the March 21 This Week at Destiny blog post, which explained that an upcoming Into the Light stream on March 26 will reveal the full details of the new social space. It'll be the second live showcase of the DLC following the first one that happened on March 19, which revealed the three-man free activity, Onslaught, but was marred by community members sending hateful messages towards Bungie.

For years, it's been speculated that Destiny 1's social space could be returning. For those unaware, the original Destiny 2 campaign saw the original Tower destroyed during the Red War. It has been in reconstruction for almost six years, with the Vanguard operations relocated to another area within the Last City.

As Bungie has repeatedly said Into the Light will be a perfect starting point for newcomers to Destiny 2 as well serving as a refresher for veterans of everything they've experienced over the course of the years, it seems rather obvious that the return of the original Tower is in the cards.

Two big hints fans have are that the Into the Light key art features a completely renewed Tower in the background and that The Final Shape Collector's Edition comes with a statue of this landmark as well.

Over the years, fans have missed having multiple social spaces and different NPCs to interact with, as Bungie has decided to remove a few in favor of keeping things streamlined to just one. The addition of the evolving H.E.L.M was welcomed at first, but fans are hopeful a change of scenery is forthcoming after years of spending time AFK in the same location.
