Now that the official trailer is finally here, we are only a few days away from the beginning of Season 10 for Overwatch. This will bring not only a new hero but also a mirror universe theme that sees heroes become villains and vice versa.
We have gathered all the important details announced for this season so you can prepare accordingly for its arrival.
Release date
Overwatch 2's Season 10 is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, April 16 at 11:00 am PT/7:00 pm GMT. The season was originally planned to start a week before that, but its release date was delayed after the release of Season 9's mid-season patch.
A new update will introduce all of the new content for this next season and Battle.net users will be able to preload it one or two days before the season begins. If the format remains the same, Season 10 will last around 8 or 9 weeks before moving on to the next one.
Trailer
In case you haven't seen it or if you want to give it another watch, here is the official trailer for the upcoming season titled Venture Forth:
New Hero: Venture
The main addition for this season will be a new hero called Venture. The non-binary character will be the 40th playable hero in the game and they belong to the category of damage/DPS.
The hero was first revealed last November during the Overwatch 2 panel that took place at BlizzCon 2023.
In case you haven't seen it already, here is the gameplay trailer that gives us a look at most of their abilities in-game:
The character will be free at the start of the season for everyone and you can visit this page if you want to read all about their bio and abilities.
Vengeance Mercy and Mirrorwatch
As seen in the official trailer, this season will introduce a new mythic skin for Mercy called Vengeance Mercy. The support hero features a mask and a suit with Talon's colors in the base version of the cosmetic.
Thanks to the season's alternate reality theme, Doctor Angela Ziegler is the leader of the criminal organization in this narrative. Other usual members from Overwatch like Ana or Reinhardt will receive Talon skins to go with the theme.
Apart from that, a new limited-time game mode called Mirrowatch will be available from April 23 to May 13. Talon members face Overwatch members from this alternate reality in a modified version of Watchpoint: Gibraltar, now belonging to the criminal organization.
Every hero will have modified abilities, with Mercy apparently being able to fire damage boost orbs instead of having a beam connected to other heroes.
Mythic shop
As promised, Blizzard will introduce a new section in the shop dedicated to all the mythic cosmetics. Players will be able to buy any of the mythic skins that were released in previous seasons.
This section will use a new currency called Mythic Prisms, and these can be obtained through the battle pass rewards.
Other details
Here is a list of some minor details that we know for certain will come to the game when the new season launches:
- The battle pass will now have gold coins as rewards.
- A test for the new map Hanaoka and the new mode Clash will take place from April 16 to April 29.
- All the restrictions for grouping in Competitive will be eliminated.
- There will be a list of 10 most likely avoids for matchmaking, but the game will be able to ignore in priority order (set by the player) if finding a match takes too long.
- Wrecking Ball will receive a rework.
