G2 pushed a map into overtime, but it wasn't enough as they fall to Team Liquid in the first quarterfinal matchup of the Charlotte Major. The European super team has been sent home in the quarterfinals.

Liquid opened up Theme park fast with four defensive rounds and three attacking rounds to just four total G2 rounds, but needed a dramatic comeback in overtime to beat G2 on Clubhouse, historically one of Liquid's strongest maps.

G2 notched four rounds on their Clubhouse attacking halves -- historically one of the most difficult maps to attack on. However, Liquid stormed back with excellent performances across the board -- and a massive overtime performance from André "nesk" Oliveira.

Statistically, Liquid's youngster Pablo "resetz" Oliveira was brilliant. He notched 22 kills over the course of two maps, and tallied a 1.35 SiegeGG Rating over the course of the two maps.

If you're G2, you're frustrated with your ability to close out maps. G2 raced out to a huge lead on Clubhouse, and were on map point three rounds in a row. Eventually, this G2 team is going to find a way to win those rounds -- it seems like an inevitability -- but there's still some residual struggles, apparently. Several times, it looked like G2 had rounds in the bag, but gave them away with over-aggressive peeks and ill-timed pushes.

Liquid advance to the semifinals, and G2 are eliminated from the tournament. Liquid will play the victor of the DarkZero vs Team oNe match that will be played later today.
