Two-factor Authentication (2FA) and how to enable it in Fortnite
The process to enable 2FA on your Fortnite account is extremely easy. Follow the steps down below:
2FA is key to protect your account
- Head over to your Account page on the Epic Games website.
- On the right of your screen look for the Password & Security tab
- Scroll down to find all Two-Factor Authentication options that include setting up an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, getting a security code sent to your email, or via SMS to your smartphone
- Once you select your preferred method, you should receive a code if you selected the email or smartphone options, alternatively, the authenticator app should generate your code if that's the option you opted for
- Input the code and that's it! You've successfully set up 2FA to protect your Fortnite account
One thing worth noting is that you can set multiple 2FA options to protect your account, but only one method can be active
What does 2FA do in Fortnite
The most important thing activating 2FA in Fortnite does for you is add an extra layer of protection for your account. In case someone manages to find your login credentials they'll be restricted from using it.
On top of that, you can get the following perks:
- You need to have 2FA to claim free games on the Epic Games Store
- It will allow you to send gifts in Fortnite
- You'll be able to compete in Fortnite tournaments
