The Fortnite FTC refunds are happening. The Federal Trade Commission explained on December 9 that they will start sending 629,344 payments totaling more than $72 million after Epic Games agreed to pay in order to settle FTC allegations following claims of unlawfully charged players for unwanted purchases.
The FTC adds that the unlawfully charging players allowed children to "rack up unauthorized charges without their parents’ permission, and blocked some users who disputed wrongful charges from accessing their purchased content."
The process to apply for a refund is still open. So, if you want to know if you can qualify for it, here's everything you need to know.
How to apply for a Fortnite FTC refund?
You can apply for a Fortnite FTC refund via the File a Claim site created specifically for the FTC vs Fortnite/Epic Games case. While the initial payments are being handed out for valid complaints issued before October 8, you can still file a claim until January 10, 2025.

You'll need a claim number provided by the FTC. Alternatively, you can apply for a refund using your Epic Games ID.
Do you qualify for a Fortnite FTC refund?
If you meet the following criteria, you are eligible to apply for a refund:
- You were charged in-game currency for items you didn’t want between January 2017 and September 2022
- Your child made charges to your credit card without your knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018
- Your account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after you complained to your credit card company about wrongful charges
Do remember that you need to be 18 years or older to apply for the refund. Sadly, the process is only available for players living in the United States.
