feature image

Being an online-always experience, Destiny 2 has its fair share of error codes. Common ones include Weasel, Plum, Chicken, and of course, error code Centipede.

Like many others, error code Centipede appears when connection issues pop up, with this one being specific to server connectivity and stability. So, in this guide, we'll give you a detailed breakdown of how to fix this issue in Destiny 2 as well as explain what could potentially cause the problem in the first place.

Bungie classifies error code Centipede as a general networking error. If you have this pop-up on your screen, it likely means that your connection to the Destiny 2 servers is too unstable and it's causing you to get kicked out of the game.

The solutions, sadly, are not plentiful but here is how Bungie recommends you tackle the issue.

Switch to a wired connection

Like other issues about networking errors, if you're connection to the Destiny 2 servers seems unstable it is recommended that you switch to a wired connection from Wi-Fi.

Troubleshoot your network address translation (NAT)

Sometimes the issue might be with your current NAT configuration, so if your NAT is Strict or Type 3, it is recommend getting your NAT into an Open or Type 1 state.

You can do it via your PC with the following steps:

  • Click the “Start” icon on the start bar and open “Settings”
  • Choose “Network and Internet” on the left
  • Click “Advanced network settings”
  • Click “Advanced sharing settings”
  • Find the “Network discovery” section and turn it on

Sadly, Bungie's troubleshooting site only lists these two possible solutions that could be affecting players trying to log in to Destiny 2.

Bungie mentions Port Forwarding as a last-resort solution. However, they strongly advise only attempting to adjust your modem settings if you have experience, as changing the wrong settings can completely disrupt your internet access.
