How to fix error code Weasel in Destiny 2

According to Bungie, the Weasel error code in Destiny 2 "is an all-encompassing error message that is usually an indicator that you are experiencing a general networking issue."

In short, this means that the problem is likely a product of a faulty connection, but can usually happen in case you switched platforms and are trying to access Destiny 2 at the same time from two or more.

In any case, here are some recommendations to help you sort error code Weasel.

Switch from a Wi-Fi to a wired connection

Bungie recommends switching to a wired connection in case you're on Wi-Fi, at least momentarily.

This is an important initial troubleshooting step to eliminate Wi-Fi signal strength and stability as potential causes.

How to improve Wi-Fi signal

If switching to a wired connection proved to be successful then your Wi-Fi signal might not be stable enough to play Destiny 2. If you have to switch back to it, however, here are some recommendations by Bungie to improve the signal quality:

  • Move the console as close as possible to the Wi-Fi source
  • Turn off or disable all other devices connected to the WiFi network while playing Destiny
  • Avoid obstructions between the console and the Wi-Fi source whenever possible, especially large appliances or other electronics
  • Switch the Wi-Fi router to an un-congested wireless channel
  • Disable the WiFi router's "Channel Bonding" feature to help avoid interference. Depending on the type of router, this feature may be called "Channel Width (20/40Mhz)", "Wireless Bandwidth", or "Channel Bonding"
  • Contact the router manufacturer to ask about advanced settings that can improve the wireless signal strength and stability

Power cycle your console

If you've encountered this error code and can no longer start Destiny, you should consider restarting your console. Here's how to do it:

  • Hold the "Power" button for 5 to 10 seconds, until the console resets

There are two other instances in which an error code weasel can show up. As we've mentioned, if you are trying to log in to Destiny 2 from multiple platforms, the error code will appear.

Also, if you receive a ban while in the middle of an activity, you will be returned to the main menu with an error code Weasel.

And that's it, we hope you can get rid of the annoying error code Weasel so you can enjoy The Final Shape. For more content, check out all ability buffs and nerfs coming with the expansion.
