Bungie has made the incredible decision of making the Beyond Light and Shadowkeep campaigns permanently free-to-play after the release of The Final Shape on June 4.
Previously, we reported on Bungie's announcement of making three expansions free-to-play from May up until The Final Shape's release: Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen, with associated seasonal content also available, including Season of Defiance, Season of the Deep, Season of the Witch, and Season of the Wish.
Now, players don't have to worry about trying to finish them at a record pace, as two of them will remain free to play even after The Final Shape launches. On top of the campaigns going free-to-play, Stasis, the first Darkness subclass in Destiny 2, will be free to all players moving forward.
The only expansion that won't be going fully free-to-play is The Witch Queen, which will stop being accessible for those who didn't purchase it on June 3. Adding to the content bonanza, if you're playing on a PlayStation console, you can claim Lightfall, the latest DLC with a PS+ subscription.
It's worth clarifying, as we've specified, that the content that's going to be free is the campaigns, with all extra activities still being a premium commodity. Bungie has prepared packs similar to the Forsaken deal, which includes the following.
The Shadowkeep Pack grants access to:
- 13 Exotic weapons
- 3 Exotic armor pieces
- The Scarlet Keep Nightfall
- The Pit of Heresy dungeon
- The Garden of Salvation raid
The Beyond Light Pack grants access to:
- 12 Exotic weapons
- 6 Exotic armor pieces
- The Glassway and Proving Grounds Nightfalls
- The Deep Stone Crypt raid
The pricing for both has not yet been revealed, but they will likely go on sale after The Finale Shape launches, meaning we'll still have to wait a few weeks to know that info.
