Here are some of the main storylines as we head to the third week of action in the North America League 2024!
Crucial week for M80
M80's new super roster had an unconsistent start of the season as two victories against Wildcard Gaming and Soniqs were follwed by an unexpected defeat against Luminosity Gaming.
However, Rome wasn't built in one day. The Brazilian-majority team will face a tough third week as the green roster will play against DarkZero Esports and Spacestation Gaming, two of the favorites in the region to qualify for the BLAST R6 Major Manchester.
It will also be the first time we see David "iconic" Ifidon playing against M80 since his departure from the team after the Six Invitational 2024, as he recently joined Spacestation Gaming.
Historically, M80 have gotten great results against both sides. Last year, the green roster defeated DarkZero Esports and Spacestation Gaming twice each throughout the North America League 2023. Can they repeat that this year?
Oxygen's first big test
Oxygen Esports are headed to the third week of action in first place of the North America League 2024. However, with regulation victories against LOS, Wildcard Gaming, and Beastcoast, the green roster has only played against teams outside the league's current Top 6.
Luminosity Gaming will be Oxygen's first opponent of the week. Despite being seen as one of the weakest sides in the league, Luminosity's initial defeat against Spacestation Gaming was followed by outstanding regulation wins against Beastcoast and M80.
Finally, Oxygen's second game of the week will be against Soniqs, who currently sit in third place after collecting seven points from two regulation victories against DarkZero Esports and LOS, and an overtime defeat against M80.
Historically, Soniqs have been ridiculously good against Oxygen Esports. During the North America League 2023 both teams met in five series, with the green roster losing four of them.
Spacestation could skyrocket to first
Spacestation Gaming will be looking forward to an Oxygen Esports defeat this week as that would mean the astronauts could skyrocket to first if they win two of their three games.
The Americans' first match of the week will be against LOS. While the Brazilians are yet to win a game in the North America League, the team has only played to matches — against Oxygen Esports (4-7) and Soniqs (5-7).
Spacestation will close the third week with a double-match day including games against M80 and Wildcard Gaming. While the yellow and black roster's game against M80 will arguably be the best game of the day, the team's clash against Wildcard Gaming will be a special one as Dylan "Bosco" Bosco and Nathanial "Rampy" Duvail will face off their former home.
Triple-match week for DarkZero Esports
Unexpectedly, DarkZero Esports had a slow start to the season as the Six Invitational 2024 Top 6 side lost against Soniqs and Spacestation Gaming before beating LOS.
The purple organization is still struggling at closing matches as two of their three games this season went past round twelve, something we already saw in Stage 2 and Atlanta, where they played eight overtime maps.
Later today, DarkZero Esports will play two matches as they will meet with M80 and Luminosity Gaming. The team's last game of the week will be against Beastcoast as the purple roster will play against their former teammate Gaven "Gaveni" Black.
