More than 30,000 reviews have been submitted in the past few days

If there's something gamers have learned this year from controversial decisions made by game developers is that the community has a voice. The first example that comes to mind is the community's reaction to PlayStation's attempt to force Helldivers 2 PC users to link a PlayStation Network account to their Steam account. Following the community's backlash, PlayStation backed down the account linking requirement.

Another example of the community's voice regarding controversial changes is happening now, as Apex Legends fans are complaining about the developers' decision to make the Premium and Premium+ tiers real-life currencies exclusive.

Although the decision was made official on July 9, the community has already written slightly over 30,000 reviews of Apex Legends on Steam in response to that.

While Apex Legends' status is Mostly Positive on Steam after 864,953 reviews by the time this article is written, the game's recent reviews have temporarily placed EA's shooter in the Overwhelmingly Negative category. In other words, only 18% of the players' reviews written in the last 30 days are positive.

"Just when you think the greed couldn't get any worse, they rework the battlepass into the most greedy thing I've ever seen," wrote the user Esskay on July 16.

sigh, another user who dropped a review on that same date, said that Apex Legends is a "great game ruined by extremely expensive cosmetics and features."

"$160 to earn collection event skins? Ridiculous tbf. You guys have something unique and great and yet ruin it more every day," they added.

Although players have the right to express themselves, it's hard to say if the community's backlash will be enough to revert the Battle Pass changes. However, the community hasn't liked EA's most recent decision, and only time will tell if the changes are here to stay.
