The Asia-Pacific (APAC) LAN Finals, held for the top two teams from the sub-regions of Australia-New Zealand (ANZ), Southeast Asia (SEA), Japan (JP), and Korea (KR), will be going to the Land of the Rising Sun for Season 8.
Every season, eight teams (the top two from each sub-region) battle it out to clinch two slots on offer to represent APAC at the global LAN Finals. This season, the teams will be going to Bersalle, Akihabara in Tokyo, Japan. The event will be held on the 13th to 14th of October, prior to the global LAN Finals held from the 17th to 18th of November.
Fnatic are the most recent APAC LAN winners
Eager to qualify and then re-establish their position as the top team in the region will be home side eiNs, who were the inaugural APAC LAN champions in Season 6. Fnatic, from Australia and NORA-Rengo from Japan (the Season 7 winners and runner's up respectively) will also look to book a slot to the APAC LAN, and stake their claim to the top spot.
Other teams expected to be seen at the event are Team Envy and Xavier Esports (SEA), Athletico Esports (ANZ), Element Mystic (KR), and Sengoku Gaming Extasy (JP).
The event will feature a single-elimination bracket, with Best-of-Three (Bo3) games in the new Season 8 format, albeit with overtime included.
It is almost certain that the Japanese fans will pack the venue tightly, and fill the air with cheers for the home sides. Be sure to tune in on the official Rainbow Six Twitch and YouTube channels from approximately 10 AM GMT+9 on the days of the event to catch the best of APAC in action.
