According to an announcement from the official Rainbow Six Siege Esports account, the decision to hold the August Major in the United Arab Emirates has been reversed.

The Major will be held in another region.

Ubisoft explained their decision-making, stating that they chose the UAE (later clarified to Abu Dhabi) as a location with blessings from local teams and the UAE government.

"Choosing this location for a Six Major was the result of extensive discussions with our local teams in the region, the UAE government, and our local Esports partner, and their collective commitment that a Six Major in Abu Dhabi would be an event in which anyone, of all gender identities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, or other individual traits, would be included and welcomed, as has been the case with numerous other events previously held in the city."

The statement went on to say that this is not the end of Ubisoft's commitment to the MENA region as a whole, and that they will continue to foster and develop the passionate community that is growing there.

The move leaves one spot open in the Y7 esports roadmap. The May Major is set to be held in the United States, the November Major in Asia.

More information about the new location of the August Major will be communicated at a forthcoming date.
