Black Dragons have qualified for the Jönköping Major after defeating ALPHA Team in the Copa Elite Six lower bracket quarter-finals. This marks a return to the international stage for the organization for the first time since Feb. 2018, when its former team attended the Six Invitational.
This iteration of Black Dragons started their Copa Elite Six run by taking down the Mexican side Six Karma 2-0. They were unable to secure qualification at their first attempt, however, losing 1-2 to BR6 2022 kings w7m esports in the upper bracket. However, a win over ALPHA will send them to Sweden for the Major next month.
In a region packed with talent and experience, Black Dragons have finally built a roster capable of international qualification. Felipe “nade” Ferreira’s addition was the final piece of the puzzle and he has had vital contributions throughout the stage.
Despite qualifying for the Jönköping Major, Black Dragons’ chances for Six Invitational 2023 qualification are very low as they missed out on the two prior Majors this year.
They will thus likely have to play in the regional qualifier for SI 2023, where they will face lineups such as the back-to-back Six Invitational semifinalists MIBR, the former world champions Ninjas in Pyjamas, and the BR6 2022 semifinalists Team oNe.
