Things started well for FURY this stage, but it came down to an 8-7 win over Tyde in the final game of the APAC League season for them to climb above Gaimin Gladiators and qualify for the Six Jönköping Major.
With this being FURY’s debut global tournament in Rainbow Six Siege, here’s a rundown on everything you’d want to know about the team and organization’s history.
Team history
Three players on this Thai roster have been together since it first won promotion to the ESL Pro League at the end of Season 7 in mid-2018.
Lycolis, Hajime, and SpaceHead (previously known as HealthcareOG) began their Pro League journey on Xavier Esports and qualified for four APAC Finals in a row. Here, they were a single game away from qualifying for both the Pro League Season 8 and 9 Finals.
Despite this, Xavier -- then picked up by the Qconfirm organisation -- only just managed to qualify for the APAC League due to a Ubisoft invitation.
Qconfirm managed to finish in eighth and then seventh place in APAC North in 2020, followed by fifth, third, and fifth in APAC South in 2021. In Sep. 2020, Pasatron "Darkk" Boonrubasb joined the team, while their third-place finish during Stage 2 in 2021 saw them end up fifth during the APAC Playoffs.
At the end of 2021, Qconfirm shut down before FURY signed the team in Mar. 2022.
FURY has been in Rainbow Six Siege since 2019, but has been in Australia rather than South East Asia for the vast majority of this time.
From May 2019 to Feb. 2022, the Oceanic FURY featured members such as Blake "Cursedwings" Wheeler and Josh "Warden" Wadham, who attended an ESL Pro League APAC Finals, Nicholas "Punisher" Stefanou, who attended SI 2017 on the Xbox, and Harry "Tuhan" Wise, who now plays for Wildcard Gaming.
The organisation, meanwhile, competed during Seasons 10 and 11 of the ESL Pro League Australia and New Zealand division, as well as a number of Oceanic national tournaments, before picking up the Thai roster.
2022 so far
In 2022, FURY finished down in eighth place with zero points in Stage 1, before signing two ex-Elevate players; Sirasit "BGMan" Ariyasirisopon and Sumate "i9" Srimabut. I9 previously played at the 2022 Six Invitational for Elevate under the name Nay...Pew.
They then made a modest jump up to sixth place in Stage 2, before they were also knocked out of three separate national tournaments by Elevate.
During Stage 3, they avenged these results by taking the upper hand with a 7-5 win over Elevate. This meant that by play day four, while just three points separated first from fifth, they looked set to finally get their global trip as they were in second place with just the bottom two teams left to play.
Players & roles
FURY’s roster is now as follows:
#flag@20:th Surachat "Hajime" Loednaweporn #flag@20:th Sillapakorn "Lycolis" Dokmaikhaw #flag@20:th Pasatron "Darkk" Boonrubasb #flag@20:th Sirasit "BGMan" Ariyasirisopon #flag@20:th Sumate "i9" Srimabut #flag@20:th Chayapat "SpaceHead" Boonyamanop (substitute)
I9 is the lone player with global experience, having earnt a 0.92 SiegeGG Rating during SI 2022.
At SI 2022, Elevate notably finished ahead of DarkZero Esports, TSM, and Team BDS in their group. Then, in the playoffs, they knocked out Rogue, but lost to Soniqs and FaZe Clan. TSM, BDS, Soniqs, and FaZe are all attending the Jonkoping Major, and FURY is in BDS’s group.
Their last head-to-head ended 2-1 to BDS -- and was the French team’s only match won at SI -- though i9 was Elevate’s best player.
During Stage 3, i9 was the team’s main entry player with limited success. Out of 22 opening engagements, he won just 10 of them. Lycolis, meanwhile, won 10 of 15 opening engagements and also managed three of the team’s five plants.
Five plants was notably the second-lowest number in APAC South and was only ahead of Tyde, a team that finished in last place with one point in six games.
The kills were largely delivered by BGMan, while Darkk, the Zofia Jager-main, was the worst performer on the team in terms of both kill differential and SiegeGG Rating.
The organization
FURY is an Australian organization that was founded in 2016 as a Rainbow Six team.
Now alongside a Thai men’s team, they also have an Australian women’s team that recently finished fifth in the XP Women’s League. Prior to this, they had a Brazilian women's team that competed in the Circuito Feminino in 2020 and 2021, it was were crowned the 2020 Brazilian champions.
Outside of R6, they have had teams in Valorant, PUBG, Rocket League, Counter-Strike, and Smash Bros.
Their best result across these games was in PUBG, where they finished 14th during 2021’s World Championship.
