Spear Gaming on Jun. 8 announced the signings of Minho "CrazyBoy" Choi, Wonil "iLeven" Cha, and Juwan "Mephi" Park from the former T1 roster and former Talon Esports player Seunghwan "saeyeora" Im. They join Minseong "RoyBoy" Koo on the playing roster, who was loaned from DWG KIA on May 31.
Jaedeok "WATB" Lee, formerly the head coach for T1, will now be the assistant coach at Spear Gaming, while relative-unknown Gyomin "NL" Hwang will be the head coach.
The move comes over one month after T1 announced it was releasing its Rainbow Six team, which finished last in APAC North in 2021 and sixth in Stage 1 of the 2022 season. Since then, Jaehyun "PJH" Park signed with DWG KIA as a coach and Hyeonjin "Arukaze" Hwang joined SANDBOX Gaming as a player.
T1 coach Junhyuk "FanXy" Lim also joined SANDBOX, while the future of former T1 analyst Junyoung "Revi" Shin is unclear.
APAC fans may recognise the Spear Gaming name; in 2020, the organization had entered an agreement with the city of Busan, South Korea, to form GC Busan Spear. The GBS roster would then secure promotion to APAC North and then be signed by DWG KIA.
Spear Gaming will debut its new roster sometime this month when Stage 2 starts for the APAC North Division and will hope for progress with its new signings.
