Ubisoft launch Rainbow Six Siege X's Testing Grounds

The playlist will be open for a week.

Ubisoft have opened Rainbow Six Siege X's brand-new playlist Testing Grounds. This unique playlist will be open for seven days and it will offer players a chance to try out some of the features that Ubisoft's developers are thinking of adding to the game in the future.

Similar to the Test Server, which opens during two weeks before the launch of a new operation, the Testing Grounds introduces features that aren't part of the live version of the game. However, unlike the Test Server, the features included in the Testing Grounds aren't confirmed to be deployed. These are just concepts that are being studied to be implemented.

In this first version of the Testing Grounds, Ubisoft is studying the possibility of allowing players to decide the speed and health points of an operator. Plain and simple, this feature allows players to tweak the traits of an operator before the start of a round.

Armour traits are the most notable changes introduced. In the live version of Rainbow Six Siege X, operators are divided into one, two, and three-health operators. In Testing Grounds, players can choose one from Light, Tactical, Medium, Heavy, and Juggernaut. The only armour mode that's universal is the Medium Armour.

For instance, Ash has access to the three lightest armour, including Light, Tactical, and Medium. Montagne has access to the three biggest armour, including Medium, Heavy, and Juggernaut.

The most clear example to explain this feature is Gridlock. The Australian attacker has a very useful kit to prevent late flanks and to stop roamers from moving around the map freely. However, she's hardly ever picked because she's a one-speed operator. She's very noisy and slow. In this week's Testing Grounds, players will be able to pick Gridlock and tweak her speed and health traits, making her a Medium Armour operator. This applies to all other attackers and defenders.

Each Armour trait affects operators in the following ways:

  • Light: 70 HP
  • Tactical: 90 HP
  • Medium: 110 HP
  • Heavy: 130 HP
  • Juggernaut: 150 HP

Logically, Light is the fastest armour type whilst Juggernaut is the slowest. Depending on the way you want to play your chosen operator, you must pick one or the other.

This gives the player a lot of power and it would completely change Rainbow Six Siege X's meta. Keep in mind that this feature is in the Testing Grounds and not in the Test Server or the live version. This potential change isn't confirmed and it's just in its earliest stage.
