Ubisoft has unveiled the creation of the APAC Cup, an off-season tournament that will see four of the best teams in the region facing off in a grand final that will be played in Tokyo, Japan.

The tournament will be divided into four regional qualifiers, including the following:

  • Oceania: October 5 to October 6
  • SEA: October 5 to October 6
  • Japan: 26 to 27 of October
  • Korea: 26 to 27 of October

The best team from each qualifier will be invited to compete in the APAC Cup grand finals. Each open qualifier will last for two days, with top-flight teams joining the bracket on the second day of action.

This is good news for the APAC competitive scene. Unlike Europe, North America, and Brazil, which had official off-season tournaments like the R6 South Breach, ELEMENT, Liga START, and the Super Copa do Brasil, the APAC region didn't have an official off-season tournament. Later this year, this will change.

With only one spot to compete in the APAC Cup for each region, we expect four highly contested qualifiers. However, with the BLAST R6 Major November being just around the corner for some of these teams, the open qualifiers may not be a priority for some top-flight rosters.
