Twister leaves FURIA for 'Assistant Coach' position with ALPHA Team

He will be in an advisory role for two months with the Campeonato Mexicano roster.

Marlon "Twister" Mello has left FURIA Esports in search for a new team, but will be an "assistant coach" for ALPHA Team in the meantime.

"During this season I will be helping ALPHA Team! And deciding what to do next," said Twister on Twitter.

Twister joined FURIA in April 2020 and was seemingly a chief architect in turning the team from a relegation candidate -- as it was at the end of the 2020 season -- to one that has qualified for every single international event since. Of those, FURIA managed to make it to the playoffs at SI 2021, the Mexico Major, and SI 2022.

Most recently, FURIA finished third in the Charlotte Major after visa troubles that prevented the team from playing the tournament in-person.

While given the "Assistant Coach" title, Twister said to SiegeGG that he will be holding a "counseling position for the staff and the team" for the next "2 months". The former NiP, FaZe, and FURIA coach will work with ALPHA Team three days a week while looking for other top-flight options elsewhere.
