Team Secret and Team BDS have qualified for the BLAST R6 Major Montreal after defeating Virtus.pro and Wolves Esports, respectively.
The first match of the day saw Team Secret defeating the Russian side after two one-sided victories on Consulate and Nighthaven Labs. Both maps saw the Europeans banning Lesion and Hibana in what was a clear attempt to capitalize on the Russians' lack of adaptability against shield operators.
Meanwhile, the Esports World Cup champions qualified for the BLAST R6 Major Montreal after a BO3 series that saw two maps going to maximum overtime as both teams played 42 out of a maximum of 45 rounds. After Team BDS won the first overtime of the day on Skyscraper, Wolves Esports forced the third map after a 7-5 win on Consulate. Eventually, Team BDS closed out the series with an overtime victory on Chalet.
Following these results, both teams have qualified for the Europe League 2024 Stage 2 grand final and the BLAST R6 Major Montreal Swiss Stage. In Manchester, both teams met in the quarterfinals as Team BDS took a comfortable 2-0 win.
Moreover, Team Secret being in Montreal's Phase 2 also means that the European roster has mathematically clinched a spot to compete at the Six Invitational 2025. The French-majority roster had already secured it a week ago.
