Helldivers 2 players are devouring new content, which includes the task of liberating Tien Kwan, the location where, according to the game's lore, the highly-anticipated mechs are being constructed. This new content has been consumed faster than the developers expected.
The Major Order had allowed players until March 10 to reclaim the facility; however, democracy was managed “4x faster than we thought,” according to Arrowhead CEO and game director Johan Pilestedt, resulting in the liberation of Tien Kwan and the availability of the game's first playable mech: the Exo-45 Patriot Exosuit—now rolling off the production line.
As you can probably tell, divers are keen to get their hands on the new mech. However, their eagerness appears to be having unintended consequences, as the game's already-burdened servers are having a hard time processing all the requests.
"With the successful push from the community to take Tien Kwan and the subsequent enabling of the mechs our servers have a hard time coping," wrote Pilestedt on X.
"This intermittent issue is caused by too many trying to acquire the mech at the same time. Service will be restored eventually, but for now I ask for patience."
Since its launch in January, Helldivers 2 has been a victim of its own success. Would-be players were effectively shut out of the game on the weekends after launch as hundreds of thousands attempted to join the war and fight back against the Automation and the Terminids. It looks like the addition of mechs and the clamor to get them have resurfaced those issues.
If you are having trouble accessing the mech in Helldivers 2, don't fret. The developers are aware of the issue and are working on a fix. Once the initial hype dies down, jumping into one won't be so troublesome.
