Sentinels defeat FunPlus Phoenix to stay alive in Valorant Champions Seoul

The Americans defeated FunPlus Phoenix in their first elimination match.

Sentinels have defeated FunPlus Phoenix on Bind (13-8) and Lotus (13-5) and will play against Gen.G Esports in the group's final elimination match. It will be a replay of the VCT Masters Madrid grand final. Back then, the Americans defeated the golden roster to become the first double VCT Masters champions in Valorant's history.

The series between Sentinels and FunPlus Phoenix began with a 13-8 win for the Americans on Bind, which was the Chinese's map pick. Although FunPlus Phoenix headed to the second half of the match with a positive 8-4 lead, the Americans chained nine successful defensive rounds including three defused spikes.

Meanwhile, Sentinels didn't take long to take the lead on Lots, where they headed to the attack with an advantage of six rounds. Eventually, the Americans concluded the series with a 13-5 win on their map pick.

Zachary "zekken" Patrone and Tyson "TenZ" Ngo stole the show against FunPlus Phoenix as they gathered 39 and 33 kills respectively. Meanwhile, Kale "autumn" Dunne was FunPlus Phoenix's deadliest player with 32 kills.

The elimination match between this season's VCT Masters champions Sentinels and Gen.G Esports will take place on August 10 as the winner will move to the Valorant Champions Seoul playoffs.
