Ninjas in Pyjamas have qualified for the Super Copa do Brasil grand final after beating FaZe Clan in the Lower Bracket Final. The shinobis will face off against FURIA Esports for a chance to secure almost US$10,000 and a spot to compete at the BR Premier Finals 2024.

The Six Invitational 2021 champions went unbeaten in the Super Copa do Brasil for seven games, including five group stage and two playoff matches. Eventually, the team’s 0-2 defeat in the Upper Bracket Final against the current world champions saw the ninjas falling to the Lower Bracket.

Meanwhile, FaZe Clan’s fourth place in Group B, which included four Tier 2 rosters, saw the Brazilians falling to the Lower Bracket from the start of the playoff stage. However, the Six Invitational 2024 grand finalists redeemed themselves with five back-to-back victories in the Lower Bracket, including wins against E1 Sports, w7m esports, Team Liquid, w7m esports Academy, and MIBR.

The series between Ninjas in Pyjamas and FaZe Clan began on Skyscraper, which had been picked by the Six Invitational 2024 grand finalists. Before today’s game, the red roster had played eleven times on Skyscraper this season, including nine victories and two defeats.

Additionally, both teams had faced off on Skyscraper twice in June, during the Esports World Cup qualifiers. Back then, both games went to overtime, with each team winning one series. Today was no less.

Despite playing on their picked map, the FaZe Clan players were the ones to force the overtime after being two-map points behind. However, Diogo “Fntzy” Lima and Gabriel “pino” Fernandes, with 15 kills each, led the shinobis to an 8-6 victory.

Following the result on Skyscraper, the series moved to Chalet. Throughout the current season, Ninjas in Pyjamas’ record there hasn’t been great, with one victory and three defeats – one against FaZe Clan (6-8) at the Esports World Cup Closed Qualifier. Meanwhile, FaZe Clan’s record this season on Chalet included two victories and three defeats, the last one being a 1-7 loss against Into the Breach.

FaZe Clan’s start to Chalet against Ninjas in Pyjamas was rock-solid as the Brazilians secured the initial five rounds of the match while playing on defense. Ninjas in Pyjamas cut short FaZe Clan’s attempt of completing a perfect half after a great push to Garage, that ended in a Diogo “Fntzly” Lima 1v1 post-plant clutch against Jaime “Cyber” Ramos.

After swapping sides, Ninjas in Pyjamas didn’t only catch up with FaZe Clan but put them between a rock and a hard place after reaching series point. Just like on Skyscraper, the red roster sent the map to overtime. Unfortunately for them the result was no different as Ninjas in Pyjamas closed out the series with back-to-back overtime round wins.

With 16 kills on Chalet and a combined kill number of 31 in the series, Gabriel “Pino” Fernandes was the best player of the match.

The Super Copa do Brasil grand final will be played on August 31 at 6 PM CEST and will see FURIA Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas competing for a spot at the BR Premier Finals 2024 in a BO5 series.
