After being in early access for a year, Sons of the Forest 1.0 is releasing this upcoming February 22, with a brand-new trailer showcasing what fans can expect when the full version of the survival horror is out.
The exclusive trailer published by IGN has fans pumped as it's setting the stage for the 1.0 release, which according to developer Endnight Games will come alongside susbtantial changes.
In Sons of the Forest 1.0, you are tasked with finding a missing billionaire on a remote island infested by cannibal creatures that aren't too poised to have you around. In true survival horror fashion, you'll have to craft tools and build shelters as you try to survive in this terrifying open world.
From lush forests to the claustrophobic caves, decorated with bizarre ritualistic ornaments, Sons of the Forest 1.0 will have a lot of locales to please fans of the horror genre. There are even glimpses of combat, which isn't like your typical first-person shooter, but rather a more methodical one. You'll have to think about how you want to spend your resources rather than go all out.
Another key feature, which wasn't highlighted in the trailer, is the fact that Timmy will have a more expanded role in the 1.0 version of the game, voiced by Shawn Ashmore, an actor known for his role as Ice Man in the X-Man franchise while dabbling into gaming by portraying Jack Joyce, protagonist of Remedy's Quantum Break.
The appearance of Timmy suggests the ending where he lives in The Forest is canon, as according to a player choice towards the end of 2014's title they could choose to revive him or let him die to save other the remaining plane survivors.
