NA Challenger League: Aqualix top in Stage 2, Luminosity lead overall standings

The second stage of the NAL Challenger League is now over.

Aqualix top Stage 2 standings

After finishing the first split in eighth place, Aqualix surprised a few by making two vital signings including that of the former professional player Jared “Beastly” Medeiros.

Finishing at the top of the standings with 21 points means that Aqualix are now in the top four, in a season where teams still don’t know if they are playing for a top-flight promotion or just for money.

Jeffrey “Saikosys” Pingel was the highest rated player on the team with a 1.23 SiegeGG Rating. It is also worth mentioning Aqualix’s opening death record of 63 ODs and 50 OKs, and the total of 15 rounds that the team clutched out.

Luminosity keep first place despite coming second

Luminosity Gaming, who picked up the Wichita Wolves’ roster after the end of the first stage, finished just one point behind Aqualix in second place. Despite not topping the standings in the second stage, the team is still leading the general table heading into the third and final split.

Luminosity’s start to the stage was woeful, as they only won one of their first five games in the stage. But they arrested their slide right there and then, following it up with five straight regulation victories that kept them inside the top four.

LG have stood out in their killing capabilities in Stage 2; George “SilentEndz” and Connor “Azian” Felux ended with more than a 100 kills, with Jonathan “Ferda” Dann just one kill off from joining them.

Impressive first stage by RentFree

Following their promotion to the CL for the second stage, RentFree finished in fifth place, just four points behind Aqualix. It’s very unlikely we see the team crack the overall combined-standings top four, but  it’s clear that some of the players have caught the eye of certain teams.

According to a report by Rafael “rafinhafps” Ferreira, the Brazilian player Dexter is likely to join Spacestation Gaming to fill Alexander “Skys” Magor’s now-vacant spot. Dexter has been the third best entry in this stage of the Challenger League, which could see Nathanial “Rampy” Duvall dropping to a role close to second entry or soft-breacher, like he did during SSG’s Six Invitational 2020 championship run.

GG Academy struggles, 1shotLFO choke first place finish

Gaimin Gladiators Academy narrowly avoided automatic relegation in Stage 2 after just finishing above Elyssar in the standings. In order to compete in NA CL’s Stage 3, the team will have to win a relegation match against the team that wins the open qualifier.

Elyssar, whose two most recognizable members are former Parabellum Esports player Kyle “Whimpy” Anderson and former beastcoast player Alec “yungalec” Bhatty, finished at the bottom of the standings after sitting in fourth place in the first stage.

Meanwhile, at the top of the standings, Nathan “nvK” Valenti’s 1shotLFO finished in fourth place after dropping a 6-3 lead against RentFree and losing to Arie Rise on the final play day of the stage.
