Modern Warfare 3 is reportedly arriving on Xbox Game Pass much to the delight of those wanting to enjoy its final few seasons.
Following Microsoft's acquisition of Activision, the idea of Call of Duty featuring on the subscription service isn't much of a surprise. The publisher has already confirmed Black Ops 6 will launch as a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass but many continue to wonder when older Call of Duty titles will arrive.
Modern Warfare 3 will be the first of the older installments of the shooter series to appear on Xbox Game Pass which could act as a sign the others will soon follow.
An Insider Gaming report published on July 10th claims the confirmation of Modern Warfare 3's Game Pass arrival could happen on the same day. The arrival of MW3 on the service follows Microsoft's long-awaited increase in price for players to access Xbox Game Pass and its vast library of titles.
Xbox Game Pass's Ultimate tier for Xbox users increased from $16.99/£12.99 to $19.99/£14.99 per month while PC Game Pass will increase from $9.99/£7.99 to $11.99/£9.99 per month. Existing subscribers will start paying the new prices in September.
Tom Henderson's report doesn't confirm a date for Modern Warfare 3's arrival on Game Pass but does suggest it could happen later in July. If a late-July arrival is planned, it coincides with the start of Season 5 for Sledgehammer Games' 2023 release and Warzone.
As with all rumors, it's important to take them with a pinch of salt until Microsoft shares more information on Modern Warfare 3's seemingly imminent arrival of Xbox Game Pass. The timing of the news is certainly interesting. Sony's clause to block titles appearing on Game Pass is meant to be active until the end of Season 6 suggesting Microsoft has uncovered a potential workaround.
We'll have to wait for the official confirmation but for now, Call of Duty is heading to Game Pass earlier than many first thought.
