The Modern Warfare 3 Altered Strain event starts today and we've got everything there is to know about it right here.
Arriving as part of Season 4 Reloaded, the Altered Strain event coincides with the launch of the Mutation mode which features a wealth of game-changing abilities for players to utilize to their advantage during the heat of battle. Like the Retro Warfare event, plenty of rewards are up for grabs.

MW3 Altered Strain event start date
The Altered Strain event arrives at the start of Season 4 Reloaded on June 26th, 2024 with a total of 19 rewards to earn. The event ends on July 24th, giving players plenty of time to earn everything that's on offer.

How to earn MW3 Altered Strain rewards
Earning rewards during the Altered Strain event is slightly different from other in-game events. Players need to collect DNA samples from fallen players and caches to earn rewards and different effects to use in the Mutation mode.
Score kills and open caches to earn plenty of DNA samples in exchange for all kinds of rewards.
MW3 Altered Strain Augmentations
Alongside the rewards, the Altered Strain event allows players to unlock Augmentations to use in Mutation matches. Check out the full list of Augmentations and their abilities below:
- Galvanized: Temporary damage reduction from explosives
- Repocket: Kills scored with abilities may replenish tactical ability
- Attuned: Cost to earn Mutant Juggernaut is reduced
- Flop Shot: Diving from surfaces creates a small explosion
- First Strike: Faster cooldown of first ability used after respawning

Although Sledgehammer Games hasn't shared the rewards appearing during the Altered Strain event, we can estimate what's on offer based on previous in-game events where collecting items is the aim of the game.
