We’re less than a month away from the release of Marvel Rivals Season 0 and fans can barely contain themselves. As if the most recent beta wasn’t enough, NetEase has released a Dev Vision presentation on Season 0 and what fans can expect. Based on the information in this video, Rivals has the potential to be another breakout shooter.

The game was immediately compared to Overwatch when it was first shown off, with fans loving these heroes and villains in more stylized looks. More costumes for these characters are going to be shown off in the future, ensuring that fans will want to keep playing this game. For now, let’s talk about the upcoming Season and its subtitle “Doom’s Rise.”

Season 0 duration

According to the video presentation on X (formerly known as Twitter), Marvel Rivals Season 0 is only going to last one month. It’s essentially a short teaser for things to come, with plenty of heroes and villains to use. Costumes will also be unlockable, presumably from spending real money or buying a Battle Pass, which is expected for free-to-play games.

Guangguang, the game’s Creative Director, said that Season 1 will officially start in early January 2025 and will be the basis for future Seasons going forward. This means that Season 0 is going to be a brisk ride in comparison and players should expect major changes soon. Users playing this Season may want to earn everything they can.

Price

The Marvel Rivals Season 0 Battle Pass price wasn’t given, but Guangguang said it would be “priced accordingly” based on content. Apparently, the Season 0 Battle Pass will have half of the content when compared to future Passes going forward. It’s odd that no price was given, but players will get a good indication of what the prices of future Battle Passes will be.

Heroes

Marvel Rivals Season 0 will have 33 heroes and villains to combat Doom’s Rise when it comes out on December 6th. At the time of writing, only 27 characters have been announced, with the final six characters getting revealed before the game’s launch. It will be interesting to see what other new characters will be joining the fray.

It’s also worth noting that future Seasons will be adding new characters, so the game won’t be stuck at 33 for long. Considering how many characters are already available at launch, adding more every Season is going to be tricky for the devs. Hopefully, each character will be able to keep this game fresh, since live-service shooters can suffer from repetition quickly.

How many maps will be available at launch?

The video presentation claims Marvel Rivals Season 0 will have eight maps at launch. All eight maps will be available for Quick Match and Competitive Modes. It’s a solid start for the shooter, especially if more maps get added per season.

Only one Conquest map was confirmed for launch. Conquest Mode is going to be the game’s version of Team Deathmatch, so this might be disappointing for fans. At the least, more maps could be added once future Seasons are in development.

How many unlockable skins will be available?

Marvel Rivals Season 0 didn’t announce how many skins would be available at launch, but many of them have been shown off on Twitter. This includes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 skins for Star-Lord, Mantis, and Adam Warlock. Loki will also have his Norse-inspired outfit from the second season of his MCU show.

New skins were also shown off during this presentation. Tony Stark’s symbiote-esque Superior Iron Man and Spider-Man’s hilarious Bombastic Bag-Man costumes were shown off. God of Thunder Thor also had his Love and Thunder armor teased. Expect even more costumes that are original creations, based on the MCU, or comic book-related.
