Marvel Rivals has been out for less than a week and players are curious about who is considered top-tier in the shooter, which is why we have prepared our tier list of characters.
Because the game’s action is so frantic, certain heroes and villains stand out when they kill multiple characters. While nerfs will likely occur in a future update, it’s hard not to enjoy the chaos.
Rivals has proven to be the hero shooter many players wanted, and Marvel needs a refresh. With renewed interest in this universe’s characters and stories, Rivals is proving what can be done with a stylized art style and fun gameplay. Future Seasons will be worth observing, especially with characters getting buffs and nerfs.
Marvel Rivals tier list
Without further ado, these are the characters who are considered to be the best or just good. Since the game has just been released, fans don’t think anyone is “bad” thus far. There are some heroes and villains who are broken, but that’s always the case with these shooters.
Now, let’s get on to the tier lists:
S-Tier
These are the characters considered S-Tier in Marvel Rivals:
- Venom
- Iron Fist
- Magneto
- Luna Snow
- Adam Warlock
- Squirrel Girl
- Winter Soldier
- Hela
No matter where you scratch it, these characters have a heavy presence in the game. Venom is a furiously fast tank, while Iron Fist can take out foes with ease. Magneto makes up for his slow movement with powerful attacks, while Luna Snow is an undeniably good healer. Winter Soldier and Squirrel Girl are surprisingly great long-range fighters, while Warlock and Hela are major forces to be reckoned with.
A-Tier
Here are the characters many fans consider to be powerful but not too broken in Marvel Rivals:
- Spider-Man
- Captain America
- Jeff the Land Shark
- Hawkeye
- Black Widow
- Groot
- Moon Knight
- Psylocke
- Doctor Strange
- The Punisher
- Star-Lord
- Magik
- Loki
- Wolverine
Spider-Man has been making the rounds for obvious reasons, as his speed and strength have been a hassle for many players. Captain America isn’t an obvious choice at first, but expert players who know how to use the founding Avenger turn their enemies into minced meat. Jeff the Landshark has become a meme for being ridiculously strong, while Hawkeye and Black Widow are excellent long-range fighters.
Groot without Rocket might not make sense at first, but the talking tree is a powerhouse who can protect allies when it matters the most. Moon Knight and Psylocke are similarly excellen characters, with great abilities that let them rack up kills. Doctor Strange and The Punisher are some of the most annoying long-range characters in the game. Star-Lord is wickedly fun and simple to use, while Loki is a brilliant support character.
Magik and Wolverine are some of the best X-Men in both comics and Rivals. While Magik’s sword slashes are slow, being able to summon helper demons makes her useful. Logan is a difficult character to use, due to the lack of range attacks, but he can easily kill enemies when needed.
B-Tier
Here are the solid B+ characters of this shooter, as not everyone can decimate the competition by themselves:
- Storm
- Thor
- Iron Man
- Rocket Raccoon
- Scarlet Witch
- Mantis
- Cloak and Dagger
Storm is controversially B-Tier, as her movement is slow, though her attacks are great. Thor is in a similar position, dishing out good damage but not having the speed to back it up. Iron Man is a decent long-ranged fighter, as is Rocket, but their defense doesn’t match up. The Scarlet Witch has an awesome Ultimate and decent utility, while Mantis can save characters in a pinch. Cloak and Dagger's unique switching mechanic makes them an unpredictable pair to fight.
C-Tier
These Marvel Rivals characters are on the lower tier of good, though certain combinations can make them great in fights. Here are the C-list characters of Rivals:
- Bruce Banner/Hulk
- Black Panther
- Peni Parker
Bruce Banner is pretty pathetic by himself but turning into Hulk gives him a massive advantage. The King of Wakanda, Black Panther is a decent close-range fighter who needs other heroes to give him an advantage. Peni Parker can get plenty done but her okay attacks and defense need to be teamed with better characters.
D-Tier
Only one character is considered “bad” in Marvel Rivals:
- Namor
Poor Namor. Marvel’s answer to Aquaman, Namor needs all the help in the world when he’s in the Rivals battlefield. Players will need patience to use this character, which is a shame since his design in Rivals is incredible.
