Leviatán have become the VCT 2024 Americas champions after defeating G2 Esports in the region's grand finals.
Both teams had previously met in the Upper Bracket Final, where the Berlin-based organization defeated the South American-majority squad on Icebox and Ascend. However, Leviatán reached the grand final after a heated 3-2 victory against their archenemies KRÜ Esports at the Lower Bracket Final.
Although it only took Leviatán four maps to defeat G2 Esports, the series wasn't as one-sided as it may seem. The blue roster reached map point after defeating G2 Esports heated overtimes on Lotus (15-13) and Haven (16-14).
Unfortunately for G2 Esports, the team's 13-9 victory on the third map of the series was followed by a 4-13 defeat on Ascent.
With this result, Leviatán secured US$100,000 and the region's first seed to compete at the Valorant Champions Seoul. As unveiled earlier today during the Valorant Champions Seoul group stage draw, Leviatán has been put in Group C alongside Team Vitality, Talon Esports, and Trace Esports. Meanwhile, G2 Esports will start from Group D, which they will share with EDward Gaming, Paper Rex, and FUT Esports.
