Helldivers 2's developer Arrowhead Games is giving all players free Killzone cosmetics following the community's complaints regarding the price of the collaboration items unveiled on December 18.
Back when the arrival of the Killzone-themed items was announced, the cosmetics included in the set were a new armor worth 500 Super Credits, a new cape worth 310 Super Credits, a new helmet worth 310 Super Credits, and a new assault rifle worth 615 Super Credits.
Considering that PlayStation players can purchase 2,100 Super Credits for US$19.99, the price for all the cosmetics is quite high. However, things get slightly worse: players only had five days to purchase them before being rotated out of the store.
The decision to put the items for such a short time in the store while also listing them for a high price infuriated the players, who quickly expressed their thoughts on social media. Fortunately, only one day after Arrowhead Games listed the Killzone items, they have already taken a decision that has surely calmed the storm.
As announced on Steam and X (formerly Twitter), Arrowhead Game and Guerrilla Games have decided to gift everyone the planned second wave of Killzone items free of charge. The items can be claimed now.
Arrowhead Game has also decided to extend the duration of the items currently listed in the store from five to ten days. This means that players will have more time to purchase the Killzone items included in the first wave.
We’re here to talk to you about our crossover with Killzone, which added new premium items to the Superstore. As this was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys is that crossover content is really high up on your wishlists. At the same time, some of you are not happy with the prices of the items and we will revisit this. Many of you were also concerned that items wouldn’t be in rotation for long enough, and there was a bit of concern around how these items exist outside of our usual Warbond releases, which are always themed in our own universe. - Helldivers 2 statement on Steam.
The team's announcement on Steam has already gathered over 3,000 thumbs up. Overall, the decision to give free items to Helldivers 2 players is smart: they aren't just learning about crossovers but are also actively listening and acting to satisfy the community's desires.
Following this, players who want to purchase both Killzone bundles will have to spend around US$10 and not twice as much. This comes in handy, especially during the Christmas season.
