EUL Playday 3 recap: NAVI strike back, Outsiders beat G2

Another big day of EUL play has concluded.

The third playday of EUL brought a metric ton of upsets and a couple of bizarre situations. Here’s a quick recap of the day’s action.

NAVI smoke HEROIC, possibly spoil honeymoon phase?

For two playdays, HEROIC were looking like one of the most improved teams in the European League. Then, new-look NAVI took them behind the shed for a game and left them worse for wear. NAVI won 7-2, and had a chance to win 7-0 had some breaks go their way. It’s a great win for NAVI after a difficult offseason and beginning, and perhaps a bit of a humbling for HEROIC, who are still in a position to qualify for a Major if they right their ship.

BDS win EUL’s battle for France

The two majority-French rosters, BDS and LFO (ex-Vitality) always put on a show when they play each other. This time around, BDS were the clear victor on Border following a monster performance from Bryan “Elemzje” Tebessi. The victory finally puts a loss in LFO’s column, and gets BDS a much-needed three points as they reminded the rest of the league why they’ve been one of the region’s best recently.

Outsiders hand G2 their first loss in the closest match of the day

If you’re looking for a match with high stakes and a thrilling conclusion, Outsiders vs. G2 was your bet. MNM vs. Secret was excellent, but this one has Major implications. Outsiders rode a strong attacking half on Oregon en route to the victory, which notched the Russian side a massive three points heading down the stretch.

Secret tally first regulation win of stage, defeat winless MNM

According to Luke “Kendrew” Kendrew in the EUL post-game winner’s interview, benching Peter “pacbull” Bull was a “higher-up” decision and it has to do with enjoying playing again. Well, Team Secret surely are enjoying playing when they get a regulation win – especially with William “Titan” Davie standing in.

MNM, on the other hand, have struggled a bit. They’ve been within striking distance in their three regulation losses, but zero points in three games played should have some alarms going off in fans’ minds.
