Yesterday, the teams featured in the first game day of the Europe League Stage 2. Here's everything that happened in the region's first set of matches.
G2 Esports holds Team BDS on Oregon
G2 Esports and Team BDS' clash ended in a 7-5 win for the Six Invitational 2023 champions, who were 5-1 up after starting on defense. After reaching match point by the end of round eight, the European powerhouse stopped the Frenchmen's comeback right before they could force overtime.
The game, played on Oregon, was Team BDS' first loss on the map since their 6-8 defeat against w7m esports in the Six Invitational 2023. Since then and until yesterday, Stéphane "Shaiiko" Lebleu and company played Oregon on five occasions, including 7-3 and 7-2 victories against w7m esports and M80, respectively.
Precisely, it was G2 Esports' first victory on Oregon since their win against w7m esports in the Six Invitational 2023 grand final. After that, the Berlin-based roster suffered losses against Virtus.pro and Team Liquid.
Karl "Alem4o" Zarth and Jake "Virtue" Grannan led G2 Esports to victory with a combined KD balance of 31-13 (+18). The Brazilian was off to a good start after registering ten kills in the first three rounds of the game. In round four, the Australian's 1v1 clutch gave the Europeans a temporary 4-0 lead.
Team BDS' only attacking round came after featuring Rainbow Six Siege's new operator, Ram. Bryan "Elemzje" Tebessi was seen using the South Korean attacker, whose BU-GI Auto Breacher can open large areas of soft floors in the blink of an eye.
Although Team BDS held G2 Esports on attack and fought until the last second, the Six Invitational 2023 champions closed the match with a very close round on Basement's defense.
G2's new guy Aleksi "UUNO" Työppönnen started planting with four seconds left, an animation he was forced to cancel after hearing Elemzje's C4 flying at him. The Finn re-started the plant with only 14-tenths left which extended the round's length, ending in a Virtue brace of kills for the Australian.
Brazil is in the house
Brazil's coaches won their matches on Monday, with Julio "JULIO" Giacomelli starting the trend with a 7-4 victory over Heroic on Skyscraper. Josh "Yuzus" Pritchard was the best player on the server with a SiegeGG rating of 1.50 while maining Ace and Fenrir.
Later on, it was Marlon "Twister" Mello's turn as the Brazilian Luiz "Miracle" Abrantes led Team Secret to a 7-4 win, with the Brazilian scoring a SiegeGG rating of 1.78 after registering a KOST of 91% and a KD of 15-4 (+11). His teammate Dawid "Gruby" Marciniak had a remarkable performance as well, with a SiegeGG rating of 1.67.
Unfortunately, Kaique "Faallz" Moreira's debut wasn't as beautiful as Miracle's. The former MIBR player finished the game with a SiegeGG rating of 0.37, a KOST of 45%, and a KD of 2-9 (-7).
With this result, ITB's top-flight debut was watered down despite a great performance by the Six Invitational 2019 world champion Juhani "Kantoraketti" Toivonen. The Finn finished the match with a SiegeGG rating of 1.54, a 4-0 (+4) on entries, and obtained a KD of 15-9 (+6) while maintaining an astonishing headshot ratio of 86.
G2 Esports' win against Team BDS followed, with Karl "Alem4o" Zarth's leading the standings in Matheus "Ramalho" Gonçalves' coaching debut in Europe.
WYLDE welcomes KOI's new signings with flawless victory
Usain Bolt's organization closed the first game day of the Europe League 2023 Stage 2 with a flawless victory against KOI.
The Europeans got six of the seven entry kills, with Peter "pacbull" Bull leading with two. Despite scoring a SiegeGG rating of 1.80, it was his teammate Maurice "AceeZ" Erkelenz who got the highest rating of the match as he currently leads the stage standings with his 1.87.
Meanwhile, KOI struggled in the team's first game since the arrival of Jack "Jigsaw" Gillies and Ádám "Hxsti" Imre. Today, the team will try to get some redemption as they will face Team Secret in the second game of the game day.
