Epic Games has announced a price increase to Fortnite's in-game currency, V-Bucks, that will affect a total of six countries including Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Nigeria, Philippines, and Vietnam. The price changes will take place this October 14.
This isn't the only hit to players' wallets as packs that can only be purchased with real-life money will also be subject to a price change. The reasoning behind this, Epic stated, is due to "economic factors such as inflation and currency fluctuations".
Epic has been constantly updating its prices across multiple regions, however, it usually took a few years to update multiple storefronts. In recent years, sadly, it's been more commonplace for the developer to consistently change V-Bucks prices.
In fact, in 2023, Epic adjusted the V-Bucks prices two times, first, hitting the UK, Canada, and Mexico in July followed by a more global change that included Eurozone countries, Japan, the United States (and every storefront that uses US dollars), and more later in October.
Before that, the previous recorded price alignment dates back to 2021, and for the one before, we'd have to go back to 2019.
Beware, are you among those affected?
To put things into perspective, players from Brazil, one of the most popular Fortnite regions, will receive a price hike of 28% this October. Currently, you can purchase 1,000 V-Bucks for the equivalent of $4.50, with the price change, that same amount of V-Bucks will cost $5.65.
The price increase will coincide with the annual Fortnitemares Halloween event, where players are expecting spooky-themed skins to make their way to the Fortnite item shop.
If you're a Black Cat fan, you're in luck, though, as the skin will be released before the price increase this September. If you live in one of the affected countries we recommend you check out Epic's full price breakdown to see how much the costs are changing.
