Dplus have qualified for the BLAST R6 Major Montreal after taking down PSG Talon in the South Korea League 2024 Stage 2 grand final.
Despite starting with a 7-3 defeat on Bank, the South Korean lineup turned the series around with two rock-solid displays on Lair (7-3) and Chalet (7-4). With this result, Dplus have locked South Korea's first seed and clinched a spot in Montreal's Phase 2.
Therefore, Montreal will be Dplus' first Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege's international tournament since February 2024 after missing out on the BLAST R6 Major Manchester and the Esports World Cup. In terms of SI Points, the South Koreans currently have 245 SI Points — a tally that has seen them climb up temporarily to 13th place.
It's also worth mentioning that Dplus' win today means that the world champion Dyjair "Mity" Soares will coach at an international event for the first time since he helped Ninjas in Pyjamas to lift the hammer at the Six Invitational 2022. It will also be Kim "EnvyTaylor" Seong-soo's first international event as a player since the BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen.
Meanwhile, Fabian "Fabian" Hallsten has been very honest on his personal X account, where he said he feels "genuinely embarrassed with the way we played." This is PSG Talon's first BO3 defeat in South Korea since the Swed took over the roster in March 2024.
Despite PSG Talon's defeat after dominating the group stage standings, the team's situation is far from being critical. As of now, PSG Talon has 300 SI Points and are now the favorites alongside FearX to take the region's second seed.
