UPDATE: Matheus "Budega" Figueiredo has made a more official statement, apologizing for his actions during the match and for speaking rashly.

Ubisoft has announced that Matheus "Budega" Figueiredo has been suspended from all competitions:

On May 17 and 18, during matches between XSET and Team Liquid, XSET coach Matheus "Budega" Figueiredo breached the Rainbow Six Circuit Global Rulebook on multiple occasions engaging in major misconduct directed at members of Team Liquid.

As per the Rulebook -- Annex B -- Penalty Index, it has been decided to issue a 12-month-long suspension against Budega, effective immediately and until May 18 2023, and to issue a competitive fine of $5,000 against XSET

Annex B of the rulebook is related to a wide range of infractions including match-fixing, match throwing, cheating, ringer use, betting on matches, bug exploits, and minor and major misconduct.

Team Liquid's manager, André "Sensi" Kaneyasu claimed it was due to him using offensive language against Liquid players.

That would be a violation of the "Major Misconduct" rules which also lines up with the punishment levied.

One such example was caught on stream as in Portuguese he stated "stop peeking you shit. You are shit. You will play another tournament, because you are a faggot."

Budega responded on Twitter, stating: "The word he translated HIMSELF, has nowhere near the connotation and the meaning in brazilian culture/Language. This a hate complaint by Sensi, he's done the same at S.I 2021. The word "bicha" is a common word for coward in my region on Brazil."
