Is Black Ops 6 DLC? That's a question that remains on the minds of players hoping the game is a standalone application for PC and consoles.

Following Call of Duty's move to its very own application, the days of individual titles are now gone with Activision attempting to minimize the file size of each game to avoid blocking up hard drive space unnecessarily. The topic of DLC (downloadable content) often divides fans and despite leaks uncovering the gun list, the thought of Black Ops 6 being DLC continues to raise concern.

With that said, find out if Black Ops 6 is DLC or its own game in this guide.

Is Black Ops 6 DLC?

Technically, Black Ops 6 is a DLC as it's going to form part of the Call of Duty application. Despite this, Treyarch's latest release is its own title with its only connection to other titles being through the single-player campaign and its eventual Warzone integration.

Unlike a Call of Duty map pack from yesteryear, players will need to download the Call of Duty app in order to play when the servers are switched on.

Why is Black Ops 6 DLC?

As mentioned earlier, Black Ops 6 is classified as DLC in order to keep Call of Duty titles in one place. This has created plenty of frustration among players who have criticized its more universal UI instead of each game having its own level of individuality.

Thankfully, more details on Black Ops 6 will appear during the Direct immediately following the 2024 Xbox Game Showcase on June 9th.

That's all there is to know about Black Ops 6 being DLC. For more, check out the leaked perk list and whether the game will feature SBMM.
