Brazil’s supremacy intact in LATAM, MIBR qualifies for SI 2022

Another chapter in the Siege rivalry between Mexico and Brazil has been written today as both MIBR and Black Dragons silenced Mexico.

Day two of the LATAM SI 2022 Closed Qualifiers began with a MIBR victory over a very sloppy Akave Esports. The Mexicobrazilian roster couldn’t do anything against its opposition as the Brazilians were just too good at attacking on Chalet – executing all of their takes with no struggles.

Akave Esports would dig its own grave in Villa, as a combination of bad time management, poor droning, and incapability of winning late-round gun fights, would end with MIBR being 5-1 ahead after the first half. Two rounds later, the first series of the day was set and done.

Mexico’s remaining hope of seeing a team of their own in the main event quickly faded away, as the dragon reduced the fenix to ashes. A strong performance on Oregon (7-3) was followed by an even wider result (7-2) on Bank.

Despite the high expectations, Mexico and South America have been once again swept by their neighbors. It is clear that both regions are onto something, with the South having improved massively this year. Meanwhile, Mexico’s representation had many issues recently, both coming to Sweden with almost no preparation behind their backs. Both regions need a bit more time, patience, and stability.

Nevertheless, both regions didn’t make it to the final game, which meant that the sixth LATAM spot at the Six Invitational would fall in the hands of another Brazilian team. MIBR and Black Dragons would see each other once again in a BO5 game that would decide all.

Incredibly, the teams played all five games in the series, with MIBR emerging victorious at 1 am Sweden time, where the qualifier was held. Following four very close maps, a very one-sided victory on Kafe saw MIBR’s current roster making it to a Six Invitational for the second year in a row.

MIBR joins Group D and will face DWG KIA, Natus Vincere, Oxygen Esports, and Team oNe, for a chance to advance to the final bracket of the Six Invitational 2022.

The Six Invitational 2022 will be played from Feb. 8 to Feb. 20, and will see twenty teams competing to become the best Siege team of Year 6.
