2GAME Esports have won the VCT Ascension Americas 2024 after a 3-2 victory over M80. With this win, the Brazilians have earned US$35,000 and the right to compete in the VCT 2025 Americas.
After winning the Upper Bracket, 2GAME Esports had a two-map ban advantage that the players used to ban Ascent and Lotus. The Brazilians had banned the same maps in their Upper Bracket semifinals clash against M80.
The Brazilians had a promising start to the series as they started today's match with a 13-5 win on Sunset. Eventually, M80 leveled the series with a 13-7 win on Icebox, a map that they had lost the previous time they faced the Brazilians. The result was followed by M80's second map win, a 13-8 victory on Abyss.
However, the Brazilians responded straight away. The team decided to play Haven with two duelists, a gamble that paid off as they won the fourth map of the series by 13-7 and pushed it to the fifth map. There, the purple roster closed out the game with a 13-6 victory on Bind.
Unfortunately for M80, this result means that they will not be able to compete in next year's VCT Americas. This is the second time in a row that M80 lost a VCT Ascension grand final after losing against The Guard at the VCT Ascension 2023.
