The Rainbow Six Siege World Cup is on hiatus, currently. It has been since the COVID-19 pandemic decimated many esports scenes across the globe since early 2021. But will it ever be happening?
What happened to the Rainbow Six Siege World Cup?
The first World Cup was set to be played in Summer 2021, according to an announcement from Ubisoft. The event was postponed, and no one has heard much, if anything, about the event since.
What was the Rainbow Six Siege World Cup?
The idea was simple: get the best Rainbow Six Siege players from around the globe to play for their home countries and have a competition in the summer, away from the Six Invitational.
The idea was a bit strange, as most Rainbow Six Siege teams are already divided up by nationality. French national and former NBA star Tony Parker was set to be the ambassador for the event, local community members were slated to be nominated as managers of the various communities.
Will the Rainbow Six Siege World Cup return?
Unfortunately, the World Cup never got off the ground, and it's unlikely to return.
No one knows when the Rainbow Six Siege World Cup will return, or if it will return. It's already overshadowed by the rest of the calendar in the Global Circuit, and it's now two years late.
