Cameram4an on 14-0 day and subsequent Rogue loss: “I think we let our guard down a little bit"

FaZe Clan pulled off one of the greatest single-game performances in Rainbow Six Siege history.

FaZe Clan performed a feat no other Rainbow Six Siege team has done at a Major: Go 14-0 on a day. The feat was previously performed by Spacestation Gaming at Dreamhack Winter 2019, but that isn’t on the same level as a Major — this is one of the best single-day performances in the history of the esport.

The key? An overhaul of communications, brought on by a new coaching staff, says Gabriel “cameram4an” Hespanhol in a Ubisoft-organized press conference.

“Our communication was really loud and we needed to set down the volume,” said cameram4n when asked what changes the new coaching staff members brought to the team.

So, why did FaZe slip up against Rogue after posting one of the most dominant days of all time? The squad bought into the hype a little bit, and some of the frantic communication issues returned, although only for a short time.

“I think we let our guard down a little bit,” cameram4n said when asked about the Rogue loss. “I think now we are back to this main focus, that is the communication. I think that’s the main reason we’re here.”

After the Rogue loss, FaZe quickly dispatched an Oxygen roster with clipped wings following Davide “FoxA” Bucci’s positive COVID-19 test that prevented him playing at the Major, and are still sitting in a strong position in group A. With only two matches left in the group stage, all FaZe needs to do is secure one overtime victory to lock in a playoff berth.

FaZe Clan is one of the heavy favorites to win the Sweden Major title. The team’s victory in Copa Elite Six Stage 3 secured them lots of hype heading into the Major — LATAM is currently the best region in Siege and winning the Copa Elite Six secures a top seed coming out of the region. With a playoff spot looking likely, all FaZe Clan need to do is keep moving forward.

“We don’t think that [there’s any added pressure on us],” said cameram4n. “We’re just here to play our best Siege, and if that happens, it’s good for us.”

FaZe Clan will resume their title campaign tomorrow morning against Chiefs, who they can effectively eliminate from the tournament with an overtime victory.
