Ubisoft today announced Mexico as the location of the upcoming Six August Major, which is set to be held from the 16th to the 22nd of August this year.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and local government restrictions, the LAN event will not have an audience.
This is akin to the recently completed Six Invitational 2021, which had been held on LAN in Paris, but without external media or live audience access.
As with the Six Invitational, which seems to have been a runaway pandemic-success, the Six Major August will follow "strict sanitary measures".
So far, no further details have been announced, but it is likely that it will feature 16 teams as has been previously announced.
The city and venue, Ubisoft said, will be announced "soon".
Mexico reported 4,233 cases on the 22nd of June, with a seven-day average of 3,312 cases.
Furthermore, according to Reuters, 36 fatalities had been reported on the 18th of June, bringing the sum totals to 2,477,283 infections and 231,187 deaths.
Mexican authorities had also stated that the real numbers are likely higher, with other data published in March putting the real numbers approximately 60% higher than reported.
